Capon - castrated male chickens raised on a strictly fatty/dairy-based diet.

Capon

Ever heard of a Capon? We wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t. This variety of poultry are young castrated male chickens that have been raised on a strictly fatty/dairy based diet. Due to their high fat diet, the meat is fattier than average chicken and far more flavorful than other poultry. They are fuller and immensely juicy, making them perfect for roasting.

Size-wise, these birds are bigger than your average chicken, but not quite as big as a turkey. Their size makes them ideal for gatherings of people at parties or holidays.

Cooking Capons

Most popularly Capons are served to groups of people, often for holidays such as Christmas or Thanksgiving. As you would with a turkey, prepare it by roasting in the oven. You can also smoke Capon, although it is a less popular method. Same as all poultry, the internal temperature must be at a minimum of 165°F before serving and eating. Undercooked poultry can result in salmonella and serious illness.

We are always happy to provide cooking instructions and guidance so your roast comes out stunningly juicy and tender. We want to help your gathering or party exceed the expectations of your guests!
