While many think this well-known sandwich found its start in Miami or Tampa, it truly began right where you’d think – Cuba. In Cuba there is a popular street food called “sandwich mixto”. It is loaded up with roasted pork, ham, pickles, cheese, and mustard, served on Cuban bread. This delicacy is what planted the foundation for the birth of the Cubano Sandwich in Florida.
