Thanksgiving Checklist
We know how stressful the holiday season can be – we’re here to help. We put together our very own Thanksgiving checklist containing each and every necessity you may need to celebrate the holiday. From turkeys, to chef made sides, and even brining kits, step into Avon Prime Meats and find it all.
Turkeys & Poultry
For our Thanksgiving preordering, we offer Plainville Farms and Bell & Evans turkeys. Both brands are always either hormone and antibiotic free or fully organic. You can choose your turkey’s weight between 10 – 22 lbs. While we cannot guarantee the exact weight you request, it will always be within a certain proximity of 10-14 lbs, 14-18lbs, or 18-22lbs.
We don’t stop there though. You can also preorder Plainville Farms Oven Roasted Turkeys to take that entire process off of your to-do list. All you need to do is heat & eat!
Looking to get your turkey brined as well? Say no more. We can brine your turkey leading up to your pickup day for an added fee when you place your holiday order.
For those who may not desire a turkey to be the star of their Thanksgiving feast, we offer a variety of alternative poultry. Preorder Cornish Hens, Ducks and Capons are all available.
Starting November 1st (2023), you can place your holiday order with a member of our team in the store, here on our website or over-the-phone at (860)-676-4444.
Chef-Made Sides
Skip all the time spent in the kitchen so you can relax with your loved ones instead. Our chefs are preparing an incredible variety of scratch-made sides to spread across your holiday table. Preorder fan favorites such as Four Cheese Mac & Cheese, Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes and Green Bean Casserole – guaranteed to be a party pleaser. Then surprise your guests with something special like our Smoked Pumpkin Bisque or Sweet Potato Casserole!
Chef-Made Stuffings
Stuffing is an absolute necessity for a Thanksgiving feast. Our chefs want to help everybody out this year, so they’re making a few varieties – including a gluten free option! Order a classic Herb Stuffing or a savory Sausage Ciabatta Stuffing to satisfy the crowd. Their one-of-a-kind gluten free Wild Rice stuffing is made with wild rice, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips, cranberries and pecans. Even those who aren’t gluten free will fall in love with this dish!
Gravy & Sauce
Keep your turkey moist and flavorful with our chefs’ scratch-made gravy. A classic gravy that tastes just as if it came from your own kitchen. And for any gluten free eaters we have gluten free gravy available. Toss in our Cranberry Orange Chutney as well to add an extra blast of flavor to your meal!
DIY Brining
Sometimes you just want to handle certain items yourself, we get it. If you’re looking to brine your turkey this Thanksgiving, pick up one of our Brining Seasoning Rubs or a fully loaded Brining Kit. All the items you need for a flavor-packed brine right here in one place.
Small Gatherings
Not having a big gathering this year? We can handle that for you too. Available in our deli or through preorder, you can pick up the exact amount of cooked turkey breast you need. You can also add on any of the chef prepared deli sides we have available. All you need to do is heat and eat! No matter how big or small your gathering is, our team is covering all the bases so you don’t have to. If you don’t want to place an order in advance, that’s no problem! Visit our deli the week of Thanksgiving to pick up all the items you need day-of.
Warning: without placing a preorder, the items you need may be unavailable by Thanksgiving Day. We suggest stopping by the store sooner rather than later to eliminate as much risk as possible.
Desserts
No Thanksgiving feast is complete without dessert! Don’t bother making anything yourself; preorder homemade pies from LuAnn’s Bakery in Ellington and cheesecakes from Sweet Fever Cakes in Canton. Enjoy a spread of classic fall flavors such as pumpkin, apple crumb, pecan or chocolate and vanilla. All pies and cheesecakes are made-from-scratch with the best ingredients and flavors.
Place Your Order!
Don’t waste all your energy and time this year leading up to Thanksgiving. The point of a holiday is to relax with your loved ones – so do just that! Use this Thanksgiving checklist to ensure all your needs are met this holiday season.
Place your Thanksgiving preorder with us from November 1st all the way through November 18th. Schedule your pick up for any day and time from November 20th – 22nd.
